RESTRUCTURING OF EDUCO AFRICA INTO A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
Congratulations are in order! After a thorough process of strategizing and restructuring, at the end of 2007 Educo Africa’s Board of Trustees appointed Trevor Johnston (our former Programme Director) as Chief Executive Officer. He took up the reins at the helm of our organisation as Marian Goodman (Executive Director since 1996) moved into the newly defined position of Founding Director and liaison to the Board. Both the Board and all the staff are excited and confident that Trevor and Marian will continue to fulfil their roles with great competence, ushering in the new cycle for Educo Africa.
Trevor is very closely assisted in leading the organisation by Wiebke Nedel (General Manager) and Mthunzi Funo (Programme Manager) who, along with Marian, has been present since the birth of Educo Africa in 1994! Various management and other functions are enthusiastically and capably held by an excellent mix of old-timers and newcomers.
Educo Africa’s look has also changed. Along with the fresh, new logo and updated website, you will find that our programmes also have a sharper focus, with capacity building of others increasingly a part of all our projects in order to increase impact and ensure longer term sustainability.
However, amidst all this change, one thing remains constant – the Spirit of Educo burns strong and clear as ever! It continues to touch the lives of people all over the world who in turn carry the Educo torch and light up the lives of those around them.
Viva Educo, Viva!
