Corporate Programmes

EDUCO AFRICA’S APPROACH TO CORPORATE TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT IS ALWAYS TO CUSTOM DESIGN ANY PROGRAMME TO BEST FIT THE CLIENT'S NEEDS, AND THIS WOULD OBVIOUSLY REQUIRE DEEPER DISCUSSION WITH YOU. IN THE MEANTIME, HERE IS A BROAD OUTLINE OF WHAT WE CAN OFFER.

Programmes are designed according to the facilities available at the chosen venue, with emphasis on the use of the outdoors rather than indoor-based sessions. This may include:

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Each programme is customized according to the needs and desired outcomes of the organisation and its individuals, but may include all or some of the following:
Intra-personal development – where the outcomes are focused on increased self-confidence, willingness to take risks, improved self concept, enhanced leadership skills relative to awareness of strengths and weaknesses (own and others), increased logical reasoning skills, greater reflective thinking skills, heightened sense of self esteem, new sense of purpose, increased environmental awareness, increased trust in self. Strong emphasis on diversity and peace-building form the foundation of these programs. This is a 5-8 day wilderness-based experience.

ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, TEAM BUILDING INITIATIVES AND GROUP DYNAMICS

These are highly participative, action-learning processes in which the team tests its ability to collaborate in solving structured problems that are designed to draw out communication, innovation and trust, as well as individual skills and talents. A comprehensive debriefing at the end of each activity will allow participants to integrate learning and insights, and relate these to the real issues of the workplace.

Initiatives such as "Solving the Traffic Jam", "Unlocking the Maze", "Crossing the Acid River" and "Creating the Fire Drill" give opportunity for planning, implementing, experiencing 'success' and 'failure', and understanding at a profound level the components of effective team practice.

The combination of structure, problem solving, challenge, physical involvement and play, is a powerful one to which teams respond with enthusiasm and ingenuity. Activities take place outdoors, but can be moved inside in the event of rain. Programme length can be from a half-day to and extended period of multiple – interventions and consultancy.

LIFE SKILLS

These one to three-day interventions teach individual participants to step beyond self-limiting thresholds and entrenched world views. These activities have the added value of building individual confidence as well perception of capability and achievement. The focus is largely on basic tools for effective communication, touching on the Ladder of Inference, mental models and assumptions, listening skills, inquiry and advocacy, dealing with diversity of views and beliefs, the Four-Player system, and compassionate feedback.

PROGRAMME STYLE

Educo Africa’s team building style is experiential and participative, with maximum fun for maximum insight and learning. Activities are designed around your desired outcomes and are in part determined by the possibilities available at the venue, with an emphasis on being outdoors and fully engaged. Depending on client preferences, the programme would aim at a balance between physical and intellectual team challenges, interactions in pairs / triads and full group sessions, active “out-there” processes and facilitated debriefing sessions for transferral of learning. Trust building, diversity, communication, leadership and team effectiveness are fundamental to all activities.

FACILITATORS

Educo Africa facilitators are highly skilled in all aspects of safety management, group dynamics and process facilitation, and their passion and enthusiasm for people development is magnetic. When activities of higher perceived risk are included in the programme, a safety officer forms an integral part of the team.
