Our History

Founded in 1994, Educo Africa celebrates 19 years of delivering wilderness-based experiential learning, with a core focus on building South African citizenship. The Educo Africa wilderness experience is the catalyst for transformation that allows the participant to return to their community as a pro-active individual, applying the learning gained in the mountains for the betterment of their family, community and society at large.

Educo Africa is an independent member of the Educo International Alliance, which originated in Canada in 1969 and is now represented on five continents.

The organisation’s core focus was rooted in a response to a post-apartheid South Africa struggling with a generation of disillusioned youth.
